Surface Pro 9 Repair Guide

The Surface Pro 9 is one of the harder modern devices to repair. The display is glued to the chassis with aggressive adhesive and acts as the entire front of the device. SSD is removable behind a small kickstand-side door (a nice touch), but the battery, ports, and Type Cover connector all sit behind the display. iFixit gives the Pro 9 a 6/10 — better than older Surface models but still demanding.

The easiest repair is kickstand repair at difficulty 5/10, taking about 30 minutes. The most complex is screen repair at difficulty 9/10, requiring approximately 120 minutes. With the device valued at approximately $800, most repairs are economically worthwhile compared to full replacement.
