What Does E15 Mean?
Bosch dishwasher E15 means water has been detected in the base pan underneath the dishwasher tub. The safety float switch has activated to prevent flooding.
Common Causes
Leaking Hose
An internal hose connection may be leaking into the base pan.
Door Seal Leak
The door gasket may be worn or not sealing properly.
Spray Arm Issue
A cracked or damaged spray arm can misdirect water.
Overfill Issue
The water inlet valve may be stuck open, causing overfill.
Step-by-Step Fix
Tilt the dishwasher
Carefully tilt the dishwasher forward about 45 degrees to allow water to drain from the base pan into the tub. Place towels down first.
Be careful when tilting — have someone help hold the machine steady.
Remove base pan water
If accessible, carefully remove the kick plate and sponge out any standing water in the base pan.
Check for leaks
Run a short cycle and observe where water may be leaking. Check all hose connections, the door seal, and the spray arms.
Inspect door seal
Look for food debris, damage, or wear on the rubber door gasket. Clean it or replace if damaged.
Reset and test
After removing the water and fixing any leaks, reset the dishwasher by turning it off for 1 minute, then run a test cycle.
